What is the Disadvantage of Removing Varicose Veins?
Many of our patients come to us after visiting other vein centers and feeling like something just wasn’t right. As Dr. Jaimes often says, patients seeking a second opinion are generally “looking for the truth” regarding their condition.
Is there a disadvantage of removing varicose veins, and do they come back after injections?
A common concern is whether removing a “bad” vein is a disadvantage. In reality, the venous system is extensive. If the deep venous system is intact, eliminating bad veins prevents further damage to the rest of the network. While the treated veins rarely return, your underlying genetic predisposition means other veins may appear elsewhere over time.
Is walking or climbing stairs good for venous ulcers and veins?
“Patients seeking second opinions often do so because they are suspicious or feel that something ‘doesn’t pass the smell test’ at another vein center where they may have been ‘sold something.'”
We believe in treating the medically necessary “root cause” first. Some clinics offer to treat visible spider veins without looking deeper. This leads to poor outcomes. We always screen for deeper involvement first. Once treated, we encourage healthy habits like walking and wearing compression stockings, though we remind patients that while exercise is good for prevention, it cannot “fix” a vein that is already damaged.
